How it works
Each page is redrawn as an image (72, 100 or 150 DPI) and saved with JPG compression. This works best for scanned PDFs. For PDFs made on a computer, text will no longer be selectable after compression.
Frequently asked questions
Which PDFs shrink the most?
Scanned documents and PDFs made from phone photos usually shrink a lot. PDFs that are mostly typed text may not get smaller — in that case the tool tells you and keeps your original.
Will I still be able to copy text?
No. Pages are saved as images, so text cannot be selected or searched afterwards. Keep your original file if you need that.
How do I get under a size limit like 1 MB?
Start with Medium. If the file is still too big, try Strong and Black & white.
