How to use

  1. Enter how much you will deposit every year.
  2. Enter your daughter's age when the account is opened.
  3. Keep the current rate of 8.2% or enter a different one.
  4. See the maturity amount, the year it matures and the tax-free interest.

Formula

Deposits are made for the first 15 years. The account matures 21 years after opening, and interest keeps growing (compounded yearly) for the last 6 years without new deposits. The calculator assumes each deposit is made at the start of the year.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current SSY interest rate?

8.2% a year for July–September 2026, unchanged since April 2024. The government reviews it every quarter.

Is SSY tax-free?

Yes. Deposits up to ₹1.5 lakh qualify for the 80C deduction in the old regime, and the interest and maturity amount are tax-free.

Can I withdraw early?

Up to 50% of the balance can be withdrawn for her education after she turns 18 or passes class 10. The account can also be closed at 18 for her marriage.
