How to use
- Choose your photo, signature or thumb impression picture. A signature should be on white paper in dark ink.
- Pick what you need from the list, for example "SSC – Signature". Choose Custom to type your own size.
- Use Zoom and the move sliders until the preview shows exactly what you want inside the frame.
- Check that the file size is inside the allowed range, then click Download and upload that file.
How it works
The picture is cropped to the shape of the box and resized to the exact pixel size. The tool then looks for the best JPG quality that stays under the maximum size. If the file ends up smaller than the minimum, it adds harmless padding data (not picture data) so the file reaches the minimum without changing how the picture looks. To be safe for both counting methods (1 KB = 1000 or 1024 bytes), the maximum is checked with 1 KB = 1000 bytes and the minimum with 1 KB = 1024 bytes.
Tips and common uses
Check the notification first
Every exam notification lists its own photo and signature rules: file type, pixel size and the minimum and maximum KB. The list here has typical values, and they change from year to year. Compare them with your notification before you upload, and use Custom if a number is different.
A good signature picture
Sign on plain white paper with a dark blue or black pen, take the photo in daylight without shadows, and keep the paper flat. Zoom in until the signature fills most of the frame, but leave a small white margin so no part is cut off.
A good passport-style photo
Face the camera in even light against a plain light wall, with your face centred and both ears visible. Avoid caps, dark glasses and heavy filters, because some exams compare the uploaded photo with a live photo.
When the upload still fails
Rename the file with simple letters and numbers, make sure it is a .jpg file, and try another browser. If the portal says the size is too small, check that you chose the same exam here, or enter the exact minimum in Custom.
Frequently asked questions
Are these sizes always correct for my exam?
No. Exam bodies change the size rules from year to year, and different websites quote different numbers. The sizes in this list are typical values. Always compare them with the official notification of your exam, and use Custom if they differ.
How do I resize my signature to 10–20 KB?
Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, take a clear photo, choose "Signature" for your exam, and move the sliders until only the signature fills the frame. Then download the file.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, so your photo and signature stay on your device.
The form says the file is too small. What do I do?
Choose the right exam in the list or use Custom with the minimum KB from your notification. The tool then pads the file up to the minimum size.
My exam asks for a live photo, not an upload.
Some exams, such as the newer SSC and RRB forms, take the photo live through your camera. In that case this tool is only needed for the signature and other documents.
